It's all about harvest

It has become a tradition at La Petite Ecole Bilingue, in October it's time to donate, collect and share food. Harvest festival is a celebration. This is the time of the year when all the crops have been harvested.

What is a Harvest Festival?

Harvest Festival is a celebration of the food grown on the land. Thanksgiving ceremonies and celebrations for a successful harvest are both worldwide and very ancient. In Britain, we have given thanks for successful harvests forever. People celebrated this day by singing, praying and decorating churches with baskets of fruit and food in a festival known as 'Harvest Festival', usually during the month of September.

Harvest Festival reminds us of all the good things nature gives us. This makes us want to share with others who are not so fortunate. Every year our pupils bring food from home for a local Food Bank collection. Children will receive the visit of a representative of the local Food Bank and we will proudly display our collection.

Previous years we were able to gather over 30 kg of food!!!

We thank you for your generosity and your support.

Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. In many part of London an increasing number of people have difficulties in paying for their basic needs. Other needs may take up all finances, leaving nothing for food. This is a dire situation, especially if one is supporting a family. The North Paddington Food Bank is there to help. With cash and food donations from businesses and ordinary people, the food bank provides a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in North Paddington. read more at: http://www.npfoodbank.org.uk/
